Clarification on Absent/Sick Calls

Sanborn Regional High School Administration and Office Staff would like you to be aware of some questions that we will be asking you if your child is absent.

Due to Covid 19, we must collect the following information for contact tracing.

If you call or leave a message that your child will be absent or you are dismissing your child, be prepared to answer the following questions:

  1.  Is the reason for your child’s absence and/or dismissal today due to the following symptoms?

Fever (measured 100F), or feeling feverish; respiratory symptoms such as a runny nose, nasal congestion, sore throat, cough, or shortness of breath; General body symptoms such as muscle aches, chills, and severe fatigue; Gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea, and/or changes in a person’s sense of taste or smell?

  1. Has your child come in contact with someone confirmed with COVID in the last two weeks?

Anyone displaying these symptoms can be allowed to return to school only if ONE of these criteria is met.

  1. They receive (and provide documentation to the school) an approved COVID-19 test that is negative, AND the person’s symptoms are improving and they are fever-free for at least 24 hours off any fever-reducing medications.

  1. They have met CDC criteria for ending home isolation.
