SPANISH II Instructional Outcomes 1. Spanish II is designed to build on the basic skills in listening comprehension, oral expression, and elementary reading and writing that were developed in the Spanish I course. 2. The student will expand on their knowledge of the different countries and cultures that make up the Hispanic world. 3. Make the course an enjoyable experience for the student continuing their Spanish studies.

Additional material from other sources including videos and Internet based material will be used in addition to the text and workbook. Tentative Course Outline 1. At the beginning of this class the student will review basic expressions in Spanish including names, greetings, colors seasons, dates and days of the week, weather expressions, classroom vocabulary, numbers 1-1000 and telling time. 2.The alphabet and Spanish pronunciation will also be reviewed and then reinforced throughout the semester. 3. After the initial review, the course will cover approximately one chapter and unit every two weeks. 4. There will be weekly mini-vocabulary quizzes, bi-weekly overall quizzes, monthly chapter/unit tests and a final exam. 5.More grammar concepts will be introduced and reinforced. At this level it is expected to have previous knowledge and learn at least 100 verbs. We will reinforce and drill verbs every day for the first 15 minutes of class. 6. There will be at least two projects, which will be due during the semester. Time will be scheduled during class for the use of the computer lab but some of the project work will be completed at home. 7. The final exam will combine written and oral elements. Steps for Student Success
1. Review class work at home daily. Because we only meet for one semester, it is imperative that each student practices at home for at least 20 to 30 minutes every day to be successful in this class. Procrastination is foreign language worst enemy. Do not wait until the last minute to get prepared for tests and quizzes.2. Ask the instructor questions regarding lessons you did not understand or missed. 3. Complete all written assignments on time.
