John Collins

The Sanborn Regional School District is committed to using the John Collins Writing Program.  This program involves writing across the curriculum.  Students are writing in classes beyond the usual English and Social Studies classes. General Writing

Within an English class, students are writing in a variety of styles: narrative, persuasive and descriptive essay, creative writing, poetry, writing about literature, letter writing, and journal writing.

Research Skills

The English Department, as well as other departments, uses the MLA format for research.  Parenthetical notation, paraphrasing, and work cited pages are key vocabulary for all students.  The MLA format is also used to cite quotes when writing about literature.  Click here for more information on the MLA.
