Start: An acronym for Study Techniques and Academic Reward Tools, START is a second English credit class all freshman students take at SRHS.  Course concentration is aimed at building on high school success by boosting writing, research, and communication skills.  Vocabulary activities, works cited, writing forms, and viewing and listening strategies are a few of the areas that will be explored in START.  Readings by authors Stephen King, Edgar Allan Poe, and Jon Krakauer will be explored.   Click here to view course description EN 101 (on page 12).
Organizational Skills:  Lack of skills in organization impacts a student's ability to maintain notes, keep track of assignments, find binders, and complete homework. These are all things that have an effect on the ability to learn. Strong organizational skills shapes one's ability to express an idea and/or to write in a competent way. Among other assignments, all students are expected to keep assignment books current, work org. into folders, and participate in daily journal activities.
