NWEA (Northwest Evaluation Association )
aka MAP (Measure of Academic Progress
Sanborn Regional School District also administers the NWEA test in winter and spring. An additional fall test will be given to all second graders and students new to the district to establish a baseline and give teachers valuable information regarding students' instructional levels. The NWEA is an in-depth computerized test in Mathematics, Reading, and Language Arts that takes approximately one hour to complete for each subject. (It is not a timed test, however, like the NECAP).  Parents will receive a copy of results after each testing window closes.

2005-2006 was the first year the NWEA test was administered to all students in grades 2-10 and teachers are still receiving training to understand and explain the meaning of results. We appreciate your patience as the we strive to define the uses and responses to this useful assessment program. For further information, please see the NWEA parent information site. http://www.nwea.org/assessments/                                                                  Top

LEXILE Scores
The NWEA test also provides information on Lexile Scores which rank student reading abilities and match them to thousands of books. Texts are evaluated for difficulty based on two parameters: word complexity/frequency and sentence length. The following links may help you find books that match your child's lexile range/reading ability:
